An interesting picture has emerged in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey after resignations: They have surpassed 8 parties
Resignations from political parties following the 2023 general elections have revealed an interesting picture in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). The 15 independent deputies currently in office have surpassed the number of deputies of 8 parties in the Parliament.
Since the general elections on May 14, 2023, 31 deputies, including those who were expelled, have left their parties. While only Saffet Sancaklı returned to his party among these deputies, 15 deputies chose to join other parties.
While there are currently 15 independent deputies under the roof of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, this situation has also revealed an interesting picture. As reported by Gazete Duvar, this number is higher than the number of deputies of 8 parties represented in the Parliament. The DEVA Party has 10, HÜDA-PAR has 4, the New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi) has 4, the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) has 3, the DBP has 2, the Labour Party (Emek Partisi) has 2, the DSP has 1, and the Democrat Party has 1 deputy. The deputies who resigned from their parties and are currently in Parliament as independents consist of the following names:
“Ankara Deputy Adnan Beker, Ankara Deputy Koray Aydın, Ankara Deputy Yüksel Arslan, Istanbul Deputy Mehmet Salim Ensarioğlu, and Kürşat Zorlu, who resigned from the İYİ Party, and Sakarya Deputy Ümit Dikbayır, who was expelled; Istanbul Deputy Cemal Enginyurt and İzmir Deputy Mehmet Salih Uzun, who resigned from the Democrat Party; Isparta Deputy Hasan Basri Sönmez, Bolu Deputy İsmail Akgül, and Kilis Deputy Mustafa Demir, who resigned from the MHP; Edirne Deputy Ediz Ün, who resigned from the CHP; and Istanbul Deputy Mustafa Yeneroğlu, Selma Aliye Kavaf, and Burak Dalgın, who resigned from the DEVA Party.”
