It was claimed that 4 mayors would join: Objection to transfers from AKP's Şamil Tayyar

Party switching and transfers in the political arena continue to be a subject of debate in recent times.

It was claimed that Antalya - Serik Mayor Kadir Kumbul (CHP), Niğde - Çiftlik district's Bozköy Town Mayor Muammer Çelikbaş (CHP), Tokat - Central district's Çat Town Mayor Ali Pelit (New Welfare Party), and Muş central district's Yaygın Mayor Selahattin Yalçın (Felicity Party) would join the AKP.

Former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar made a noteworthy post following the transfer allegations.

In his statement, Tayyar emphasized that it is not enough for politicians who change parties to simply leave their former parties, but that they should also relinquish their current positions.

Continuing his social and political criticisms regarding transfer politics, Tayyar stated that past political habits are being carried over into the new era. Describing the transfer habits as a "bad habit of the old Turkey," Tayyar stated that they continue today. Addressing all parties, Tayyar commented, "No one should take offense, no party has anything to say to the other; whoever finds the opportunity opens their door to transfers."

Tayyar's statement is as follows:

"The transfer of incumbent MPs or mayors does not harm the one leaving, nor does it benefit the one arriving.

It only corrupts politics.

It reinforces the 'untrustworthy' perception of the politician.

If an elected official is going to change parties, they should leave their post before doing so.

This path might perhaps be an exception for elected officials who have parted ways with their party as a result of a principled struggle.

Unfortunately, this bad habit of the old Turkey has been inherited by the new Turkey.

No one should take offense, no party has anything to say to the other; whoever finds the opportunity opens their door to transfers.
