It was claimed that Kılıçdaroğlu said 'Wait for the convention': Gürsel Tekin's response was swift

A striking claim regarding the convention process within the CHP has emerged. Former CHP State Minister Mehmet Sevigen, appearing on a television program, alleged that former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu told Gürsel Tekin that the convention could be canceled.

According to Sevigen's statements, Kılıçdaroğlu told Gürsel Tekin, "Wait ten or fifteen days, the convention might be canceled." This claim has reignited internal debates within the CHP.

SHARP RESPONSE FROM GÜRSEL TEKİN

Responding to the allegations, Gürsel Tekin categorically denied Mehmet Sevigen's words in a statement to the Sözcü newspaper.

"There is absolutely no such thing. If something like this had been said, am I someone who wouldn't be able to announce it myself?" said Tekin, noting that he had met with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu before his decision to establish a party. Stating that Kılıçdaroğlu told him, "There was no need for such a thing," Tekin said that no conversation regarding the cancellation of the convention had taken place.

'PARTY OF THE UNDECIDED'

Tekin, who served as deputy chairman, secretary-general, and member of parliament in the CHP, resigned from the party in February 2024.
