İYİ Party announces it will not attend the Constitution Rally

İYİ Party Spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu announced the party's decision regarding the rally that the CHP will hold on January 14 at Tandoğan Square in Ankara, for which it has issued a call to all political parties and social segments.

Speaking after the party's General Administrative Board meeting, Zorlu said, "It was a two-part call. The CHP called the Turkish Grand National Assembly to an extraordinary meeting. We did not provide signatures, but we will attend the session. We will not attend the rally."

İYİ Party Spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu stated, "We will announce our Istanbul and Ankara candidates before the end of this month. After we announce our Istanbul candidate, there will be a great competition in Istanbul."

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Court of Cassation had caused a constitutional crisis by refusing for the second time to recognize the rights violation ruling issued by the Constitutional Court regarding imprisoned TİP Hatay MP Can Atalay. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had announced that a decision to hold a rally against the constitutional crisis was made following the Party Assembly meeting.

CHP also received signatures from DEM, EMEP, TİP, the Democrat Party, DEVA, and the Felicity Party (Saadet Partisi) for the petition calling the Turkish Grand National Assembly to an extraordinary meeting.
