İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener: 'I swear no one heard me, no one has heard me my whole life'

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener said, "God is my witness, we are entering these elections free and independent for you. We are having ourselves weighed on your scale."

Attending an iftar program organized by her party at a wedding hall in Artvin, Akşener requested support for the İYİ Party Artvin Mayoral candidate Demirhan Elçin.

Stating that Elçin was the candidate of the Nation Alliance in the previous term and was elected, Akşener used the expression, "The most important opinion we hear from our friends regarding Mayor Demirhan is that he does not steal, does not let others steal, does not eat, and does not let others eat. In other words, he does not allow theft."

Criticizing the fact that Elçin was not re-nominated by the CHP, Akşener continued her words as follows:

"He did not allocate the money set aside for Artvin from Turkey's taxes to rent cars or hire drivers for his wife or child; instead, he practiced social municipalism. Of course, my dear brother, my esteemed mayor, they would not nominate you again. I don't know, but you are probably considered short-tempered. I am also considered quite short-tempered. Because an honest person, a person who has nothing to do with money, gets short-tempered in the face of a thief. We cannot coddle people."

Addressing the İYİ Party members, Akşener said, "For the people of Artvin to receive the right service, for the right service to be performed in the best way possible, and for Artvin's money to be spent on Artvin as much as possible, I ask you, especially my İYİ Party brothers and sisters, to work ten times harder today if you worked once yesterday. It is such a claim that you must elect Mayor Demirhan, you must get him elected. If I have any rights, I do not forgive them. Because it is our duty to elect a brother of ours who was ostracized because of his honesty."

Expressing that they risked the İYİ Party losing during the Nation Alliance process for the sake of Turkey winning, Akşener said the following:

"Our first priority is Turkey and the Turkish nation. We finished the election on this basis. Elections were won in cities like Istanbul, Ankara, Adana, and Antalya. We finished the job with 19 district and 4 town municipalities. We did not feel any regret. We came to the 2023 election, and that's when I understood that this seesaw was very comfortable. On September 21, I visited Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu with 5 of my friends. We went together with my Deputy Chairs. I told him, 'If you are going to nominate one of the mayors of Istanbul or Ankara, we are in. Then withdraw the other one. If you are not going to nominate either of them, the Table of Six has not even been established yet. Then warn both of our friends. Because they are turning the voters into supporters, into football club fans.' I said. I swear no one heard me. No one has heard me my whole life. Anyway, let the faults be mine. We understood that winning Istanbul was not enough to win Turkey."

Noting that they could not take the necessary steps toward the hearts of the citizens in the 2023 elections, Akşener spoke as follows:

"God is my witness, we are entering these elections free and independent for you. We are having ourselves weighed on your scale. Many insults were made, many slanders were thrown, and we saw that there was no difference between a comrade and a crony. In other words, there was no difference in terms of favoritism. There was no difference in terms of getting what one wants done. More gravely, everyone was satisfied with corruption, the ruling mass. No one was bothered by anyone, everyone was comfortable. I am sorry, I will disturb that comfort."
