İYİ Party Istanbul Mayoral Candidate Kavuncu alleges 'CHP is conducting an operation'

Visiting the Bayrampaşa Rumeli Turks Culture and Solidarity Association as part of his program, Kavuncu addressed the events of the local election process in his speech there, stating the following:

"Those who nominated Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu for president did not find him suitable for the CHP chairmanship and ousted him, making Özgür Özel the chairman.

Now this is normal, this is democracy, there is nothing wrong with this... Ever since the day we, as a separate party, said 'we will field candidates in every province,' a very heavy, systematic, and insidious operation has been carried out. I am stating this sentence very clearly now."

Pointing to the resignation of municipal council members, Kavuncu said, "That day we said; 'Look, if any of you appear on CHP lists as a municipal council member following these resignations, we will read this as an operation.' I am giving you the names one by one: Bora Kılıç appeared on the CHP's municipal council member list in Çekmeköy.

Yakup Fındık appeared on the CHP's municipal council member list in Ümraniye. Hafız Şirazi appeared on the Küçükçekmece municipal council member quota. What is this if not an operation?" he said.

Kavuncu noted the following:

"Do you know how these go? For example, someone resigns yesterday. Our Zeytinburnu district chair resigned two days ago.

We held a candidate introduction meeting on Sunday, and I explained our Istanbul projects.

All of these friends were there that day. It has been three months since we made the decision to engage in free and independent politics.

There was no problem for three months. Two days ago, our Zeytinburnu district chair resigned in front of the cameras. He says; 'I have agreed to support Ekrem İmamoğlu.' Today, he is the 12th-place municipal council member candidate for the CHP in Zeytinburnu. Can such a disgrace exist?"
