İYİ Party Leader Dervişoğlu's 'new constitution' remarks: 'I promise I will not fall for the game'

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made statements at his party's rally in Ordu.

Listing the economic problems experienced in Turkey, Dervişoğlu said he would not fall into the "trap" of those who want to change the agenda with "artificial agendas." 

Dervişoğlu said, "I am calling out from here to those who say, 'Forget these troubles, we will make a constitution'; we will not let them make people say, 'If you can't find bread, eat the constitution.' We will not let them make this nation say, 'If you can't find bread, eat the constitution.'" 

Addressing the crowd that came to his rally in Ordu, Dervişoğlu said, "I promise that I will not fall for the game of those who try to make people forget Turkey's destructive problems and want to create trivial debates." 

Stating that he would not fall into the trap of those who want to create artificial agendas, Dervişoğlu used the expressions, "We will not let them make this nation say, 'If you can't find bread, eat the constitution.'"

"IF BELGIUM HAD EXPERIENCED WHAT WE HAVE..."

Highlights from Dervişoğlu's statements are as follows:

"We are children born in the 60s. A coup happened and shaped our childhood. In '71, a memorandum happened and shaped our adolescence. In '80, a coup happened and shaped our youth and our future. If Belgium or the Netherlands had experienced what we have, they would have built an asylum every 250 meters. We smile at the pains we have left behind. We are people who do not carry our quarrels from yesterday to today. Our elders always took care of us.

I will continue to be one with the retiree, the orphan, the teacher who cannot be appointed, and the fixed-income earner who cannot boil their pot. I am calling out from here. At a time when my citizens are facing such great troubles, at a time when they are experiencing all 4 seasons like a harsh winter, I promise that I will not let any politician experience spring in these squares. I promise that I will not fall for the game of those who try to make people forget Turkey's destructive problems and want to create trivial debates.
