İYİ Party provincial chair resigns

Mehmet Hasanoğlu, who has served as the Bursa Provincial Chair for approximately 2 years following his tenure as the founding District Chair of İYİ Party Osmangazi, announced his resignation from his post in a post on his social media accounts.

Stating that he has been experiencing health problems for a long time, Hasanoğlu expressed that he made this decision after long consultations and asked for the blessing of his party members.

“WE ARE AT PEACE CONSCIENCE-WISE”

Expressing his happiness regarding the work done during his tenure, Hasanoğlu said, “Since my appointment as the founding District Chair of İYİ Party Osmangazi in December 2017, I have had the honor of serving in two very important presidential positions of the Movement of the Brave in Bursa for nearly 7 years without interruption. As the Osmangazi District Chair, we tried to serve for the success of my party in Osmangazi and for our Bursa together with my team in the June 24, 2018 General and March 31, 2019 Local Elections by ensuring organization during the state of emergency period.

During my 5-year district chairmanship period, we achieved many firsts both in Bursa and across Turkey on behalf of our party with my team. At the end of my 5-year Osmangazi District Chairmanship process, I handed over the flag of my own free will by not being a candidate at the 3rd Ordinary Congress of our Osmangazi District Presidency on December 4, 2022, and subsequently, I was elected as the provincial chair together with my team with 70 percent of the delegates' favor at the 3rd Ordinary Congress of our Bursa Provincial Presidency held on January 29, 2023.

As a result of these efforts, the performance we put forward with my team has contributed to the fact that it is currently the only province among our 81 provinces where the İYİ Party has 2 deputies and 2 Mayoralties, and no matter what anyone says or what criticism they bring, we are at peace conscience-wise.

At the point I have reached today, no matter what anyone says or what criticism they bring, I have tried to serve for nearly 7 years in Bursa by leading the movement of the brave without interruption, making material and moral contributions, stealing time from my family, working day and night, and when necessary, disrupting my work hours and all responsibilities at my workplace. Just as every servant can have shortcomings, I must have had my own shortcomings; may our shortcomings be forgiven with your appreciation,” he said.

“I CONVEYED MY THOUGHTS TO OUR GENERAL CHAIR BEFORE LEAVING BURSA”

Stating that he conveyed his intention to leave his post to İYİ Party General Chair Müsavat Dervişoğlu during his Bursa program, Hasanoğlu continued as follows:

“While doing all this, unfortunately, the results of my check-ups, which I had done periodically due to a suspicious health problem that emerged with routine check-ups about a year ago, started to go poorly. My medical treatment process, which started at the beginning of June 2024, continues with an operation I underwent on July 18, and I am fighting to regain my health.

Just as I have never had any concern about a seat throughout my political life to date, I acted with the same principle today, and on the first day when my health problems emerged at the beginning of June, I called our Organization Chair, Bursa Deputy Hasan Toktaş, and our Bursa Deputy Selçuk Türkoğlu to inform them. I requested to be excused from my duty because I would not be able to provide the contribution I desired to my party from this point on.

However, the process remained until today with the suggestion of both of them saying, “Mr. Chair, we have infinite respect for your decision, but you should first regain your health, and we will look at the rest later.” I conveyed my thoughts to our general chair before leaving Bursa; he stated that I should think again, and even continue in a way that would not strain my health if possible, but that he would respect whatever my decision was in the end.

With this final program, I would like to share with the public that I have put an end to my duty as the İYİ Party Bursa Provincial Chair due to my health problems, in order to hand over the seat to my fellow comrade who will be appointed by the discretion of our Headquarters to organize the Bursa Provincial Presidency.

Finally, I would like to ask my dear family, first and foremost, to grant me their blessing for enduring my intense pace day and night during my 7-year presidency period. I also offer my endless thanks and gratitude to all my provincial and district board members who were my teammates in this process and contributed to all these projects and works I mentioned above, and to all the district chairs and their organizations during my provincial chairmanship period.”
