İYİ Party shuts the door on Zafer Party's 'alliance' proposal

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ had made a notable call following the announcement that the İYİ Party would enter the elections without cooperating with the CHP.

'ALLIANCE' TALKS BANNED

According to Halk TV's report, Ümit Özdağ proposed "cooperation" for the local elections to be held on March 31, 2024, in a call he made to İYİ Party Chairwoman Meral Akşener. While Akşener did not respond to Ümit Özdağ's call, a notable move came from İYİ Party Organization President Buğra Kavuncu.

Kavuncu, who has previously had heated arguments with Ümit Özdağ, banned "alliance" talks in an instruction sent to provincial and district branches, requesting that any incoming proposals be reported to the organization coordinators.

INSTRUCTION FROM KAVUNCU

The instruction sent by Buğra Kavuncu to the organizations, without using the name of the Zafer Party, is as follows:

"Dear Chairmen;

- It is understood that, especially today and over the next few days, requests for meetings, consultations, etc., regarding electoral alliances are being/will be received from the provincial and district branches of certain political parties for the purpose of manipulation and provocation.

- In order to maintain our party discipline and avoid causing manipulation and misinformation; it is of great importance that these proposals be rejected clearly and explicitly, and that no room be left for even discussion.

- For this reason, it is kindly requested that these proposals received by our provincial and district branches be rejected and that the situation be reported to our relevant organization coordinator."
