Joint declaration from 6 parties following the 'Palestine' session in the Turkish Parliament

Following a special session held in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) regarding the Palestine-Israel conflict, 6 parties issued a joint declaration. The declaration stated, "We clearly reiterate that lasting peace in the Middle East is only possible through a just resolution of the Palestine-Israel issue, and that this can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and geographically integrated State of Palestine with its capital in Jerusalem, based on the 1967 borders."

Joint declaration from 6 parties following the 'Palestine' session in the Turkish Parliament

A special "Palestine" session was held in the General Assembly of the Turkish Parliament. Following the closed session, a joint declaration was issued with the signatures of the deputy group chairmen of all political parties.

Protecting civilians under all circumstances and avoiding practices that amount to collective punishment is a requirement of law, conscience, and humanity. To ensure this tension does not lead to irreparable consequences, we invite all parties to exercise restraint and common sense within the framework of our vision for peace, security, and stability."" statements were used.

The following was recorded in the declaration:

"Recent developments on the Palestine-Israel front have once again demonstrated the necessity of finally reaching a permanent solution to this issue, which has long caused indescribable distress, despair, and suffering. The resolution of the Palestine-Israel issue lies not in managing the consequences, but in eliminating the root causes of the problems. Recent events are a result of the 56-year-long illegal occupation and the policies associated with it. The Palestinian people, whose lands, lives, and hopes for the future have been taken away, are today under a new and unprecedented siege. Cutting off food, energy, and humanitarian aid to Gaza, where 2 million people live and which has long since turned into an open-air prison due to a 16-year blockade, and indiscriminately striking civilian settlements, is a clear and grave violation of international law. Creating a hierarchy among civilians is another manifestation of racism and discrimination. The chain of violations, which began with the occupation and continues with property seizures by illegal settlers, attacks and provocations that disregard the status of holy sites, and the application of double standards, continues to erode the vision of a two-state solution. Therefore, it is imperative that the ongoing occupation practices in the occupied Palestinian territories end immediately and that a just peace is achieved. The entire international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, must take responsibility without further delay to compel the parties toward a fair solution based on the vision of a two-state solution."

''INDEPENDENT STATE OF PALESTINE''

Pointing out that lasting peace in the Middle East is possible with a return to the 1967 borders, the declaration stated, "We clearly reiterate that lasting peace in the Middle East is only possible through a fair resolution of the Palestine-Israel issue, and that this can only be achieved through the realization of an independent, sovereign, and geographically integrated State of Palestine with its capital in Jerusalem, based on the 1967 borders. As all political parties with groups in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, based on the views we have listed above, we expect the parties to the conflicts in Palestine and Israel to end the escalation and not target civilians; we condemn all attacks that directly target civilians and methods of collective punishment that deepen the unending humanitarian tragedy in Gaza; and we invite Palestine and Israel to a two-state
basis to begin negotiations for a lasting peace without further delay in order to reach a fair and permanent solution" it was stated.
