Joint report of the AKP process commission to be submitted to Erdoğan
Members of the AKP's process commission have met to evaluate the draft of their joint report. The final report is expected to be presented to President Erdoğan.
The body known as the National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy Commission, and referred to in the public as the "process commission," will meet tomorrow under the chairmanship of Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş. It is reported that the meeting will take place at 11:00 AM in the TBMM Ceremony Hall.
AKP commission members gathered before the general meeting to review the prepared joint report draft. It was learned that the meeting, held in the AK Party Group Meeting Hall, lasted approximately one and a half hours. AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler also attended the commission meeting. It is stated that after the evaluations, the report will be finalized and presented to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Disagreements have emerged regarding the voting method for the draft report expected to be accepted by the commission. CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir stated, "The National Fraternity, Solidarity and Democracy Commission will meet tomorrow at 11:00 AM to discuss the commission's draft report. In accordance with Article 6 of the Commission's Working Procedures and Principles Directive, a qualified majority will be required for the report to be accepted by the Commission." Conversely, the AK Party side expressed the view that "This is not a legislative proposal, therefore a qualified majority is not required."
Article 6 of the commission's working procedures and principles stipulates that the quorum for meetings is an absolute majority of the total number of members, that a three-fifths majority is required for legislative proposals, and that in other cases, the decision quorum is an absolute majority of those attending the meeting.
The meeting of the process commission scheduled for tomorrow is expected to yield significant results, both in terms of internal commission debates and the differing perspectives of the political parties.
