Justice Minister Tunç: All parties must protect the ballot boxes

During his visit to the Bursa Provincial Headquarters, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç, who attended the opening of the Judge and Prosecutor Assistant Training Center, stated in his remarks regarding the March 31 local elections, "We will protect the ballot boxes; all parties must protect them. That is, all parties should have their lawyers present."

During his visit to the AKP Bursa Provincial Headquarters, Tunç stated that as part of his program in the city, they held the opening of the Judge and Prosecutor Assistant Training Center, the first of its kind in Turkey, within the Regional Court of Justice.

Stating that one must first take the Judge and Prosecutor Assistant Exam to become a judge or prosecutor, Tunç said, "Those who pass the exam must first serve as a judge or prosecutor assistant for 3 years. Previously, it was required to serve as a judge or prosecutor candidate for two years; now it is 3 years of judge and prosecutor assistance. We held the opening of the first training center for this in our Bursa. I wish it to be auspicious for our judiciary community."

Reminding that significant courthouse investments have been made in Bursa before, Tunç noted that when they visited the courts of first instance, they saw that the physical space was becoming insufficient and that they would prepare projects for this.

Reminding that Turkey is on the eve of local elections, Tunç continued his words as follows:

"I hope our Bursa will say 'real municipalism' again on March 31. As the People's Alliance, I hope our Bursa will continue to win. We believe in this wholeheartedly. Our organization will have a very large contribution to this. There are countless services we have brought to our Bursa.

It is possible to see this while traveling by minibus today. Hospital buildings, school buildings, universities, and now the high-speed train project work is continuing. 

In other words, the investments made for our Bursa are countless, and when we look at just the roads between Istanbul and Bursa, and the roads between Bursa and Izmir, these are massive investments.

I hope our nation will make the right decision on March 31 regarding the determination to continue these more rapidly in harmony with local administrations and our government in the coming period. We believe in this wholeheartedly."

'THE CONSTITUTION MUST BE MADE CIVIL, DEMOCRATIC, AND INCLUSIVE'

Pointing out that Turkey needs to get rid of the coup constitution, Tunç stated that the Constitution must be made civil, democratic, and inclusive.

Expressing that everyone agrees on this issue, Tunç explained:

"Even if their political views are very different, everyone, all political parties, says 'Yes, Turkey needs a new constitution,' but of course, when it is said 'Let's gather around a table and reach a consensus,' we all see this difficulty together. There have been many attempts on this subject in the past, but unfortunately, they did not reach success.

There were agreements on up to 60 articles, but then the tables collapsed. Our hope is that in the 28th Legislative Term, the beginning of the Century of Turkey, a consensus will be reached in the 28th Term parliament to fulfill our debt to our nation, and our country will be saved from the coup constitution. I hope we will continue our path with a democratic, civil constitution."

Touching upon the fact that the second cabinet of the Presidential Government System has very important agenda items in the new term, Tunç said, "First of all, our primary agenda is that 11 of our provinces were destroyed in the earthquake; to rebuild these cities as soon as possible and to make all our cities sensitive and resilient against earthquakes and disaster risks. That is why local administrations are important. The work that local administrations will do in harmony with our government, urban transformation projects, are important in terms of our citizens living in safer cities and towns. I would like to express that the fact that this harmony has been achieved in Bursa and that this harmony will continue from now on is an opportunity and a stroke of luck for Bursa."

Minister Tunç concluded his speech as follows:

"We have our lawyers here, our legal experts. We will protect the ballot boxes; all parties must protect them. That is, all parties should have their lawyers present. Everyone should protect their own votes so that the national will is manifested in the most accurate way. Our President tried to ensure the determination of candidates as a result of broad consultation and broad public opinion polls, and our candidates in the provinces have been determined.

Now it is the turn of our districts, and I hope that by determining the most accurate candidates in our districts, our citizens will make their most accurate decision for those right candidates, and we will continue to work day and night to be worthy of their trust.

I wish our March 31 elections to be auspicious for our Bursa, its districts, and all our neighborhoods in advance."
