Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç responds to Özgür Özel's 'coup attempt' claim: 'Calling for street protests...'
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç responded to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's remarks that the Court of Cassation's decision regarding Can Atalay was "a coup attempt against the Parliament."
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted sharply to the Court of Cassation's decision to file a criminal complaint against the members of the Constitutional Court (AYM), who had ruled for a "violation of rights" in the case of Gezi Park trial prisoner Can Atalay, stating, "This is a blatant coup attempt."
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç responded to Özgür Özel's 'coup attempt' remarks.
"CALLING FOR STREET PROTESTS DOES NO ONE ANY GOOD"
Sharing on his X account, Tunç stated the following:
"It is a highly wrong and irresponsible move to make statements claiming that a 'coup against the Parliament' has taken place based on evaluations of the decisions made by the Constitutional Court and the Court of Cassation following the finalized conviction verdict issued under Article 312 of the Turkish Penal Code for 'attempting to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey by using force and violence' due to the Gezi uprising. The Republic of Turkey is a state of law. Calling for street protests under the pretext of court decisions does no one any good. In a state of law, problems are not solved on the streets, but through the mechanisms provided within the law itself."
