Fatih Karabatı, who was elected Mayor of Karacabey under the IYI Party banner in the March 31 elections, has announced his departure from the party.
Karabatı shared the following statement regarding his decision on his social media account:
'As I leave behind one year in my mayoral role, which I undertook to serve Karacabey, I have taken care to make all my decisions by considering the interests of our citizens. At this point, I am informing the public that I have resigned from my party membership in order to continue my duties on a freer ground and with a more inclusive understanding, and that I will continue my mayoral duties as an independent.
