Karayalçın's assessment of Özgür Özel's visit to Erdoğan: Kılıçdaroğlu had criticized it

Karayalçın stated that he 'finds it correct' regarding the meeting to be held between AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan and CHP leader Özgür Özel.

Murat Karayalçın commented on the recent remarks by former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who said, 'One does not negotiate with the Palace, one struggles against it.' 

Defending the meeting between Erdoğan and Özel, Karayalçın shared the following message on his X (Twitter) account:

'I FIND IT CORRECT'

"I find the meeting between CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel and Mr. President to be correct. Because; the debts inherited by CHP municipalities. In many places, CHP mayors who took over from AKP mayors faced a massive debt burden.

A significant portion of these debts consists of debts to the state, specifically to the Social Security Institution (SGK) and tax debts to the Treasury.

The government has essentially viewed these debts as an additional source of credit and did not pursue those who did not pay. However, they may now want to move toward collecting these funds rapidly."

"THE TREASURY NEEDS TO PROVIDE A GUARANTEE"

They may want to put pressure on CHP-run municipalities. It may be requested that this issue be discussed and that public service be kept outside of politics. It is not money, but Treasury guarantees that are needed: Most of the projects of CHP-run municipalities do not have a funding problem. Because they are sound projects and are affordable, loans can be found from many places around the world under favorable conditions. But for this, the central authority, the Treasury, needs to provide a guarantee.

"THE CONSTITUTION-MAKING PROCESS IS IMPORTANT"

For this reason, a legitimate request is conveyed. Cooperation is essential for urban transformation: There are many provinces in Turkey, especially Istanbul, that are expecting an earthquake. Here, there is a necessity for the central government and local government to work together in terms of decision-making and implementation.

Where human life is at stake, there is no party distinction. This situation is a priority. Constitutional process-state wisdom: The constitution-making process is important. In this regard, a process can be managed by listening to each other and taking the opinions of broad segments of society. There are Constitutional Court and European Court of Human Rights decisions that are not being complied with. The loss of rights experienced is evident. Here, a supra-party common state wisdom can be built."
