Kemal Okuyan's striking commentary on the CHP: 'From today on, there are two parties'

TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan made an assessment regarding the debates within the CHP following the absolute nullity process.

Stating that 'as we have said many times, there is no discussion on world and national issues at hand,' Okuyan made the following remarks:

'From today on, there are two parties. The expectation that Özgür Özel and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will reach an agreement through mutual concessions will most likely not be realized. However, it will not be easy for these two parties to separate from each other. Just as the AKP wants, the CHP is now two parties that cannot walk together but whose separation is troublesome and time-consuming. While one side accuses the other of 'acting on the orders of the Palace,' the other side focuses on corruption and moral decay. As we have said many times, there is no discussion on world and national issues at hand. As a party that receives the support of a significant portion of the segments reacting to the government in Turkey, the CHP's base is looking for a leader who will 'defeat the AKP.' For this reason, even if Kılıçdaroğlu is convincing regarding corruption, he cannot pull the CHP base to his side. People become disillusioned with life, withdraw into themselves, or look for other alternatives, but they do not follow Kılıçdaroğlu. A large segment, on the other hand, continues to stand behind Özgür Özel by closing their ears and eyes. Despite all the resources mobilized and the inflated attempts, the fact that the rally Kılıçdaroğlu held in front of the Headquarters building today was lackluster is proof of this.

'THE POLITICAL AGENDA HAS SUDDENLY BEGUN TO BE DETERMINED BY TWO CHPs'

Such a picture will lead to more intervention by the government. The government thought it would weaken the main opposition by creating two CHPs, but because it could not be convincing itself, the political agenda has suddenly begun to be determined by two CHPs. Society is being forced to choose between the CHPs. The AKP will not tolerate this and will put more pressure on some CHP figures and local administrations. Kılıçdaroğlu's strategy is also entirely based on this. He hopes that those who have guided him and provided him with documents so far will continue to do so. Well, will these interventions by the government cause Ekrem İmamoğlu and Özgür Özel, who are currently still acting together, to help the emergence of a social movement that transcends them? As far as it appears, a large part of the Turkish left believes this. By citing the government's attacks as a justification, a team whose class and ideological character and view of the world are extremely clear is being vouched for and supported.

Placing the struggle against a government whose credibility has weakened in almost every respect today on a line contrary to revolutionary values on the grounds that 'this is the preference of broad segments,' even if all these allegations of corruption, etc., were fabricated and slanderous, is a big, very big mistake. This mistake means the rejection of the claim that 'another world is possible.' There is a big difference between standing against the government's attempts to design the political sphere and other parties, and settling into the order politics, which has been thoroughly rotted by the plunder and extreme exploitation mechanisms of capital rule, and trying to gather strength there. It is not possible within this polluted plane for the social segments standing behind the İmamoğlu-Özel duo today to overcome the traumas that new developments will create, and for an option to be created that can be trusted by the broad segments who are currently indifferent to these events but are in search due to poverty. Moreover, this approach will mean putting aside the responsibility of creating resistance and an alternative against the government by taking a stance on the vital problems the people are facing and the sources of these problems at the most inopportune time. Yet, there is no reason to be this 'hopeless' and 'desperate'.'
