Kılıçdaroğlu returns, 38th Congress missing from biography! Özgür Özel era erased

Following the decision of absolute nullity with precautionary measures taken regarding the Republican People's Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has returned to office as the party's chairman. Among the first actions taken under Kılıçdaroğlu's leadership was the updating of the party's official website and mobile application.

With the changes made, Kılıçdaroğlu's name and biography were published in the chairmanship section of the website. However, this published biography begins only from the 33rd CHP Ordinary Congress held on May 22, 2010; it contains no information regarding the subsequent transfers of the chairmanship, particularly the 38th Ordinary Congress. Thus, an impression has been created on the site as if Kılıçdaroğlu has held the chairmanship continuously without interruption.

At the 38th Ordinary Congress held last year on November 5, 2023, CHP members elected Özgür Özel as chairman by a margin of 276 votes, and this change had been a significant turning point in the party's history. However, in accordance with the absolute nullity ruling, the results of that congress were deemed invalid. In the current updated biography, there is no mention of Özel taking over the office or this critical juncture.
