Remarkable statement from Kılıçdaroğlu regarding Akşener! 'Ms. Meral told the truth'

Former CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who lost to the 'change' candidate Özgür Özel at the party's 38th Ordinary Congress, made statements regarding the current agenda to Sözcü columnist Saygı Öztürk.

Speaking on the stripping of Gezi prisoner Can Atalay of his parliamentary seat, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "Regarding the Can Atalay issue, we see that there is actually no legal order in Turkey, that the law has been completely trampled upon, and that the respect maintained for our 100-year-old republic has been destroyed at the judicial level. Even in the forest, we speak of 'Forest Law.' Even though that place has its own rules, the existing rules of the great Republic of Turkey have been completely destroyed, if I may express it in terms of the judiciary."

Kılıçdaroğlu continued as follows;

"A BLOW TO THE CONSTITUTION!"

Despite the clear provision that 'Constitutional Court decisions are final and binding on all administrative bodies, the judiciary, etc.,' the Court of Cassation has brought the situation to a point where it says, 'It does not bind me.' We see this as a major event and call it a blow to the Constitution. But when we look at the history of this, we have also seen and witnessed that Constitutional Court decisions or Court of Cassation decisions were not implemented by lower courts. We need to look at who those who do not implement court decisions draw their power from. We need to look at the power centers that can influence the judiciary. We see that those centers are palace sources, that they derive their power from the palace, that is, from the executive branch, and therefore the balance between the legislative, executive, and judicial branches has shifted in favor of the executive, and that the legislative and judicial bodies comply with whatever the executive says. The Constitutional Court decision is an example of this.

Therefore, perhaps if there could have been a social reaction from the very beginning, if the intellectuals of this country could have shown those reactions in time, I do not know if different results could have emerged, but at least the resistance of the Court of Cassation against the Constitutional Court decisions could have been broken a little more upon social reaction. However, it did not happen.

"WHAT DOES IT MEAN NOT TO COMPLY WITH CONSTITUTIONAL COURT DECISIONS?"

What does it mean not to comply with Constitutional Court decisions? It means there is no justice in this country, that the judiciary makes decisions based on the administration of one person, and we also see that those who remain loyal to that will—that is, those who make decisions in line with the suggestions coming from the palace—are promoted within a certain period of time. One can become a member of the Court of Cassation from a lower court. We experienced the event of being elected as a member of the Constitutional Court automatically from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, that is, without having a signature under a Court of Cassation decision. We see that those who make decisions in the way the palace wants, including prosecutors, are promoted.

Therefore, we see that those who do not comply—that is, those who trample the judiciary or justice underfoot—are moved to important positions in the judiciary. This opens the doors to being open to suggestions coming from the palace and says: 'The way to get promoted is to comply with the suggestions coming from the palace; if we fulfill those suggestions, we will rise.' The President's lawyers are quite influential in this regard. Furthermore, what is more dramatic is that Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor İsmail Uçar says, 'There is gang formation in the judiciary.' There is nothing done so far regarding this allegation, or we do not know of it. No statement is made to the public. That person was elected as a member of the Court of Cassation. What he wrote and said during his time as Chief Prosecutor will most likely be covered up and forgotten. Turkey is in this state. Despite all this, one should not be too hopeless. Turkey has respectable judges, respectable members of the judiciary, and a vibrant Union of Turkish Bar Associations. Therefore, we should not fall into despair. If such events are happening in 21st-century Turkey, in fact, everyone who votes for the AKP in this country should perform a conscience check."

"IF ANYONE IS GETTING RICH IN POLITICS, KNOW THAT THEY ARE STEALING"

Kılıçdaroğlu continued his words by saying, "There is no merit left in the bureaucracy. There is a tremendous decay in the judiciary. We are in a process where those who commit corruption are respected, and moral people are marginalized."

"It is not possible to get rich in politics. If anyone is getting rich in politics, know that they are stealing. Unfortunately, in our country, the one who steals becomes the more respectable person! We have become such a strange country."
