At the November congress, Özgür Özel was elected chairman with the votes of 812 delegates, while the previous chairman, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who received 536 votes, lost his seat.

However, it has been suggested that the court could issue a ruling of "absolute nullity" in the lawsuit filed on the grounds that the congress in question was irregular. In this scenario, the congress could be deemed completely invalid, leading to claims that Kılıçdaroğlu could become chairman again.

As the court process approaches, CHP Party Assembly Member Engin Özkoç and Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer met with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is being held in Silivri. During the meeting, Kılıçdaroğlu's assessments regarding the absolute nullity case were conveyed to İmamoğlu.

Regarding the meeting, Vahap Seçer said, "Mr. İmamoğlu had already stated that he had brought up these issues during Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu's previous visit. This was also reflected in the press. The same things were discussed again. However, we also conveyed Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu's response on this matter to him. Of course, he would have liked to receive a different answer. We would have liked it too. Perhaps the public would have been relieved, but under these conditions, we will now make our stance clear based on future developments."
