Kızılcahamam marked by debates: Proposal to 'shut down' that ministry at AKP camp

Internal party debates and criticisms set the agenda at the weekend camp organized by the AKP in Kızılcahamam. Diyarbakır MP Sait Yaz complained to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan about the play titled "My Wife's Husband," stating that it was not suitable for the conservative structure of Diyarbakır. Minister of Culture Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced that the name of the play had been changed to "Marriage Comedy" and that it was subsequently removed.

PROPOSAL TO SHUT DOWN THE "MINISTRY OF FAMILY"

According to the report by Veli Toprak from Sözcü, visually impaired party founder Lokman Ayva targeted Minister of Family Mahinur Göktaş, stating that he found the ministry's work insufficient. While Ayva proposed that the ministry be shut down, Group Deputy Chairman Leyla Şahin Usta expressed that she found this criticism directed at the only female minister in the cabinet to be unfair.

ERDOĞAN'S REMARKS ON DEM CAUSE CONFUSION

Erdoğan's statements suggesting that the AKP, MHP, and DEM would act together caused confusion among camp participants. While AKP members questioned whether they were alliance partners, Erdoğan and party officials stated that this cooperation was only valid for the new opening process referred to as a "Terror-Free Turkey."

At the camp, where economic issues were also discussed, MPs argued that the raises given to retirees and civil servants should also be applied to minimum wage earners. Expressing that citizens are complaining about economic difficulties, rising prices, and high interest rates, the MPs demanded that restructuring options be diversified. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, however, stated that restructuring in every area is not correct, as it could lead to a habit of not paying debts.
