Kürşad Zorlu announces: Sets a date for IYI Party's Istanbul and Ankara candidates!

As Turkey heads toward local elections, political parties continue to announce their mayoral candidates.

The IYI Party, which decided to enter the elections 'free and independent' after rejecting the CHP's cooperation offer, is eagerly awaited to see which names it will nominate, especially in Istanbul and Ankara.

IYI Party Spokesperson and Head of Media Relations Kürşad Zorlu made statements regarding the upcoming local elections and current issues.

AKŞENER'S 'FREE AND INDEPENDENT' REMARKS

Speaking to Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü, Zorlu clarified Chairwoman Meral Akşener's 'free and independent' remarks.

"As the IYI Party, we believe that our place should be exactly by the side of our nation," said Zorlu, adding the following;

"We are talking about seeking change and solutions together with our people, by standing against a politics that is squeezed between two fists without discriminating against any of our citizens. Just as there are people who are aware of the abyss the political power has brought the country to today, there are also millions of our citizens who are anxiously examining how to find a way out of this. Our understanding, which we express by saying 'free and independent politics,' is a candidate to be the new social power center of Turkey, where both of these segments can feel a sense of belonging. What is expressed as a 'third way' is also an alternative path to power. We believe that this understanding, strengthened on the axis of values adorned with our national culture and history and turning its face to the citizen, will become more advantageous in solving the country's problems.

Of course, we are aware of the difficulties of this path. Because we need to work very hard and explain ourselves more. In a way, we are rebelling against a conventional win-lose scenario. Despite these difficulties, leading a political competition where our nation will win and only the voter will be the benefactor has become a serious responsibility for us.”

SETS A DATE FOR ISTANBUL AND ANKARA CANDIDATES

Regarding his party's eagerly awaited Istanbul and Ankara candidates, Zorlu said the following;

“In line with the decision taken by our General Administrative Board, we will field our own candidates everywhere in Turkey.

So far, we have announced our candidates in 7 metropolitan cities, 12 provinces, and more than 100 districts. Our negotiation traffic for Ankara and Istanbul continues. We hope to announce them by the end of January. Let us also see the AK Party's candidate, especially for Ankara. We will provide our citizens with the opportunity to find alternative choices and open a new space in all our metropolitan cities. There are provinces and districts, and even metropolitan cities, where we are ambitious. We will see and talk about these in more detail when the election competition hits the field.

However, the understanding that wants to take Turkey entirely into a bipolar politics exists both in the government and, unfortunately, in the opposition. Everyone is happy in terms of those who produce this result. But what about the citizen? They are struggling to make a living. They are unable to breathe. The worker cannot get their rights, and the retiree cannot leave their home. Our youth are hopeless about their future.

"WE WILL COMPETE WITH BOTH THE AK PARTY AND THE CHP"

We will compete with both the AK Party and the CHP. Every single citizen who is in the future of this country is very valuable to us. At the same time, we believe that they will send an effective message with the support they will give us to the government that cannot produce solutions to the many problems our nation is experiencing, and to those they see as lacking solutions. Afterwards, our goal is of course to aspire to power, and we must achieve this. Because the only structure in Turkey that can maintain the claim of being reasonable and the center is the IYI Party.”
