Location for CHP's major rally in Istanbul has been determined
The CHP has designated Bakırköy as the next stop for its "Defending the National Will" rally series, to be held on Wednesday evening, July 23.
Following the arrest of CHP presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, a new installment of the "Defending the National Will" rallies is being organized in Istanbul. The CHP leadership has chosen Bakırköy as the venue for this rally.
The event, which will begin at 20:30 on Wednesday evening at Cumhuriyet Square, is expected to bring thousands of people together. Party members will gather in the square to stand up for elected officials and democracy.
Bakırköy Mayor Ayşegül Ovalıoğlu, in a statement made via social media, invited citizens to the rally with the words, "We are standing by our presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, our elected mayors, and our fellow travelers. We are meeting in Bakırköy under the leadership of our Chairman Özgür Özel for justice and freedom in every area of life. The will of our people will surely prevail."
The event, which is expected to see high participation, is anticipated to emphasize democracy and justice. As in previous rallies, it is expected that in addition to CHP executives and party supporters, civil society organizations and citizens will also provide their support.
