Mansur Yavaş addresses the government from Ankara: 'We haven't forgotten May 14; they said PKK members would be reading meters, what happened?'

Speaking at the "Unity Ashura" event organized by the Çankaya Municipality, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş emphasized that Turkey is in a period where it needs unity and solidarity more than ever. However, Yavaş noted that the current government constantly changes its rhetoric during election periods in an attempt to deceive the public.

Yavaş asked, "Those who once accused others of treason for cooperating with the DEM Party are now trying to sit at a constitutional table with those same people. We haven't forgotten May 14. Remember when they said PKK members would be reading meters in Ankara? What happened? What has changed now?"

"WE WILL NEVER ALLOW THE FIRST FOUR ARTICLES OF THE CONSTITUTION TO BE TOUCHED"

In his speech, Yavaş defended the values of the Republic and the first four unchangeable articles of the Constitution, stating, "We will protect this Republic founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. We will not allow Turkey to become a Lebanon. We will never allow the first four articles of the Constitution to be touched."

Yavaş further argued that there is a deliberate strategy to construct a new identity by emphasizing Turkish, Kurdish, and Arab distinctions.

OPERATIONS AGAINST CHP MAYORS: "THEY ARE TRYING TO BLOCK OUR PATH WITH CONSPIRACIES"

Yavaş also touched upon the arrests targeting CHP mayors. Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yavaş said, "All kinds of slander are being directed at Mayor Ekrem, Mayor Muhittin is being targeted even though he donated his land, and Mayor Zeydan is being tried over a file from 11 years ago. This is a political operation."

Yavaş stated that according to polls, nearly 70 percent of the public believes these trials are political.

"THEY HAVE RECEIVED TENDERS FROM OVER 300 AK PARTY MUNICIPALITIES"

Continuing his speech, Yavaş said, "A narrative is being constructed through a tender mafia. This mafia has received tenders from more than 300 AK Party municipalities. They act as if they are pure and innocent. But their past is clear; should we talk about the bureaucrats found with 26 kilograms of gold, or the corruption?"

Stating that trust in Republican People's Party (CHP) municipalities has increased, with this rate approaching 60 percent in recent satisfaction surveys, Yavaş added, "That is why they want to stop us with conspiracies."
