Mansur Yavaş calls for early elections: The time has come
Voting has concluded in the CHP's presidential primary. Following a high turnout, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş called for early elections, stating, "20 million people went to the polls to vote when they were not required to."
Voting has concluded and polls have closed in the primary election held by the CHP to determine its presidential candidate. Vote counting has begun across the country. It is estimated that approximately 20 million people cast their votes in the primary, which saw a very high turnout.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş addressed the reason for this high turnout in a statement made in the capital. Yavaş stated, "If these events had not occurred today, perhaps there would not have been such a turnout. This shows that when you act unlawfully, the reaction is very significant."
Regarding early elections, Yavaş said the following:
“We will set an example for Turkey with an early election. Because tripping up your opponent is not something that aligns with democracy. I believe around 20 million people went to the polls today to vote when they were not required to. The time for an early election has long since come. Because none of these young people have seen any other government since they were born."

WHAT HAPPENED?
In a statement today, Özgür Özel had said, "There is public interest in the people's solidarity ballot boxes that is 10 times greater than the member ballot boxes." Meanwhile, the CHP had called on citizens to gather in Saraçhane today.
CHP Secretary General Selin Sayek Böke had announced that the presidential primary ballot boxes would remain open until 19:00 due to the high turnout.
