Mansur Yavaş continues his 'How is a city murdered?' posts
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş has released the fifth video in his “How is a City Murdered?” series, in which he targets rent-oriented zoning plans. Yavaş criticized the previous administration, stating, “Plans for 18 million people were made for an Ankara of 6 million.”
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş shared a video today in the fifth installment of his posts titled "How is a City Murdered," featuring the current state of the Emniyet, Işınlar, İncek, Taşpınar, İlkbahar, and Çukurambar neighborhoods.
Criticizing the unplanned growth in these areas, Yavaş noted the following:
- How is a city murdered? Ankara's current population is 6 million. However, with the rent-based zoning decisions of the previous administration, plans were prepared to accommodate a population of 18 million.
- The massive structures rising in every empty space you see now are the result of this lack of calculation and an approach that disregards the rights of the city.
The road is the same, the sewer is the same, the infrastructure is the same... But the buildings are now 40-50 stories high. Now I ask; what kind of life does drowning a city in this much concrete leave for the children of the future?
