Mansur Yavaş files official candidacy for Ankara: 'I entrust myself to the people of Ankara'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş arrived at the CHP Ankara Provincial Headquarters to file his candidacy for a second term.

Yavaş answered questions from journalists at the Provincial Headquarters.

Highlights from Yavaş's speech are as follows:

"We promised the people of Ankara that we would bring a transparent, participatory, and sharing administration without waste, and that we would bring about a change in mentality.

To those who asked what our project was, we promised that we would leave no one hungry or homeless, that we would not spend what we received from the people of Ankara on anything other than the people of Ankara, and that we would enrich the people of Ankara in every aspect.

Soon, we will hold a major meeting to give an account, where we will present how many of the 100 projects we promised before the election we have realized and how many we have not.

During our tenure as mayor, there are many practices where we have made a revolution in municipalism, serving as an example to Turkey. We will share these with the press.

GOAL OF MORE MUNICIPALITIES

We wanted to show the whole world that the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality would be managed without waste, impartially, without squandering resources, and honestly, and we succeeded in this.

I can give the people of Ankara this good news; by adding many more municipalities to the existing ones in Ankara and by securing a majority in the municipal council—so to speak, we have been called a 'lame duck' until now, but we never complained and never fell behind in providing services. Hopefully, together with our many mayors and municipal council members in the Assembly, we will continue to make Ankara a capital of the Republic that competes with the capitals of the world, just as it has been entrusted to us. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed in advance.
