Mansur Yavaş's first visit after the election: 'Our priority is the citizens' demands, not concrete or plastic'
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who won the March 31 Local Administration General Elections with a record number of votes, made his first post-election visit to the Ankara Wholesale Market in Yenimahalle. Meeting with tradespeople at an iftar program, Yavaş thanked his fellow citizens for their support.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş made his first visit following the March 31 Local Administration General Elections, which he won with a record vote share, to the Ankara Wholesale Market in the Yenimahalle district.
Mansur Yavaş, who met with the wholesale market tradespeople at an iftar program hosted by Ankara Wholesale Market President Ceyhan Gündüz, was accompanied by Yenimahalle Mayor Fethi Yaşar and Elmadağ Mayor Adem Barış Aşkın, as well as Mamak Mayor Veli Gündüz Şahin, Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, Beypazarı Mayor Özer Kasap, Şereflikoçhisar Mayor Mustafa Koçak, Güdül Mayor Mehmet Dolunay, and Kalecik Mayor Satılmış Karakoç, who are awaiting the receipt of their certificates of election.
Additionally, ABB CHP Group Deputy Chairman Yaşar Neslihanoğlu, former IYI Party Ankara Provincial Chairman Faruk Köylüoğlu, and Ankara City Council President Halil İbrahim Yılmaz also attended the iftar.
"NONE OF THOSE SLANDERS WORK ON US"
In his speech there, ABB Mayor Yavaş stated that those who could not talk about their services and promises toward the end of the election process turned to ugly propaganda, saying, "The election result shows that none of these slanders have any benefit. Our citizens are already reacting to this. None of those slanders work on us. As a result, the people of Ankara have approved our five years of service."
"WE WERE APPROVED WITH A RECORD VOTE"
Emphasizing that no project without people at its center is of any use to anyone, Yavaş said, "They approved not the municipality of concrete and asphalt; but the real municipality that is on the side of the citizen, does not waste the money it receives from the citizen, spends it for their real needs, and stands by the citizens when they are in distress. And they approved it with a record vote."
"LET US SERVE ANKARA TOGETHER"
Recalling that when he was elected in 2019, he called on other district mayors to work together for the people of Ankara but they were unwilling to cooperate, Yavaş noted the following:
"We will make the same call to the newly elected district mayors. Even if our numbers are high, come and take the hand we extend in the assembly; the public may have given us fewer votes in the municipalities you won, but in the end, let us solve their problems together. I will make the same offer so that we can serve all of Ankara together. I hope the newly elected district mayors and the independent mayor will not make the same mistake. They will take our hands, and in my second and final term as mayor, we will serve Ankara together as it should be, along with the other elected mayors."
Continuing his speech by thanking everyone who supported and voted for him, Yavaş said, "May God not let us be embarrassed. I hope we will not do anything that will make the people who trust us hang their heads in shame. We will continue to govern Ankara together, hand in hand, just as before," noting that his priority would again be the demands of the citizens, not concrete or plastic, and that he would strive to fulfill those demands.
Grand Ankara Wholesale Market President Ceyhan Gündüz, in his speech, said, "We stand by our mayor who is always by our side, supports us, and embraces the tradespeople. He never left us alone for a single day. Whatever we needed, we went to him. He never turned us away empty-handed."
