Mansur Yavaş responds to rival Turgut Altınok's 'blank check' claim: 'If they are going to threaten the people of Ankara...'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş met with officials from businesses operating in the Capital Organized Industrial Zone (OSB).

Yavaş, who attended the breakfast held at the OSB administrative building, listened to the demands of the industrialists and explained the work and projects they have carried out in the municipality over the past 5 years.

Yavaş also answered questions from journalists as he was leaving the building after the meeting.

'HE SHOULD FINISH THE TOWER IN KEÇİÖREN FIRST'

Yavaş gave the following response to a question regarding the statement by Turgut Altınok, the AKP's candidate for the Metropolitan Municipality, that they had received a 'blank check' from AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and relevant ministers for potential investments in Ankara:

"He is already the mayor of the ruling party right now. I don't know if it's possible to get a check that easily and receive illegal aid or something, but I would expect him to finish the tower in Keçiören by getting help from them first. I would expect him to get support from those places and provide support to the 50 thousand poor people living in Keçiören and the approximately 5 thousand retirees who receive aid from us. There is no obstacle to him taking that check right now and using it for Keçiören. I think he should 'do those things first.'

These are all aimed at the election. These were also done during the late Özal era. It was seen how it backfired. The government does not have the right to discriminate between municipalities. Because we also serve the people of Ankara without any discrimination. If they are going to threaten the people of Ankara with this, it has no place in democracy. The people of Ankara will give the necessary answer. We don't need a check; it is enough if they don't obstruct us."

When reminded of Altınok's remarks regarding "where the 300 billion lira ABB budget was spent," Yavaş said the following:

"He should visit mansuryavasneyapti.com. It is clear there down to the last penny where we spent it, and he should continue to take examples from our projects there. Because while he says 'Mansur Yavaş has no projects,' he is offering the projects I have implemented as his own promises. He can see how much money I spent where on this site. We work very transparently. All our expenditures, including the Court of Accounts report, are available on the municipal website. But it is certain that we do not invest money in concrete just for show; we spend it on human needs."
