Mansur Yavaş reveals the moment he can never forget in his political life: 'Neither Ankara nor I have forgotten what happened'

Following the instruction from AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to "shake up the municipalities," the Ministry of Labor and Social Security took action and issued foreclosure decisions against 6 CHP-run municipalities that have debts to the Social Security Institution (SGK).

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş made statements regarding the agenda, as well as the foreclosure imposed on the municipality's 6 companies.

Speaking to Mynet, ABB Mayor Yavaş stated the following regarding the SGK's foreclosure decision:

"First of all, our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and its affiliated organizations, ASKİ and EGO, do not have any tax or SGK debts. The debt belongs to the municipality's 6 companies. Blocks were placed on all accounts of these companies, including their personnel salary accounts.

What they are doing is actually an attempt to take revenge on the voters. They have tried this before. Between 2019 and 2024, we did not have the majority in the municipal council. They tried to hinder the projects we wanted to implement. But what happened? The people of Ankara increased their trust in us from 50 percent to 60 percent. The number of municipalities we hold rose from 3 to 16."

HE ADDRESSED VEDAT IŞIKHAN

Addressing Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, Yavaş continued as follows:

"I would also like to ask Mr. Minister Vedat Işıkhan, why did you reject all our requests for offsetting and reconciliation? Only 10 percent of the SGK's receivables are from municipalities; why are you setting aside the remaining 90 percent and reaching out to interfere with the will of the people of Ankara? The public sees these things. Rest assured, they will give the necessary response to them when the day comes by SHAKING THEM UP."

"NEITHER ANKARA NOR I HAVE FORGOTTEN"

Making statements regarding his political life, Yavaş shared the moment he can never forget. Recalling the 2014 municipal elections, Yavaş said, "Neither Ankara nor I have forgotten what happened in the March 30, 2014 Local Elections, which caused Ankara to lose 5 years in terms of time, and perhaps another 20 years in terms of the damage it caused to the city."
