Memleket Party fails to reach agreement with CHP: Fielding candidate for Istanbul

The Republican People's Party (CHP) has failed to reach an agreement with the Memleket Party, following similar unsuccessful alliance talks with the TİP.

Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce, who met with Özgür Özel for the second time, did not find the proposals made by the CHP satisfactory, and the negotiations have been suspended for now.

İNCE DID NOT WARM TO THE PROPOSAL

According to behind-the-scenes reports in Cumhuriyet, an agreement had been reached in last week's talks to offer the Memleket Party a "guaranteed" district municipality in İzmir and city council memberships in major metropolitan areas. It was learned that Özel, who was considering nominating Selçuk Mayor Filiz Ceritoğlu Sengel as the candidate for İzmir, proposed the Selçuk Municipality, which would be vacated by her, to the Memleket Party, but that İnce did not warm to the offer.

İnce's demand for one of the central districts of İzmir was also not approved by the CHP leadership, primarily by CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel.

İNCE DID NOT RESPOND TO MESSAGES

While it is stated that İnce requested his team to prepare for the announcement of candidates on Monday, it is being discussed that former CHP deputy Mehmet Sevigen will be announced as the Istanbul candidate next week.

It was learned that İmamoğlu sent a message by phone yesterday to restart the negotiations, but İnce did not respond to this message.
