Meral Akşener's response to DEM Party on 'honorable political murders'! She named names and said, 'These are cowardly assassinations'...

İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener, who faced backlash for her statement, 'We witnessed political murders in our past, but they were honorable,' responded during a speech in Ordu: 'Those who murdered baby Naz are cowards, those who murdered Fethi Sekin are cowards. Those who murdered Eren Bülbül are cowards. Those who murdered Yasin Börü are cowards. At the same time, those who murdered Sinan Ateş are also cowards. These are cowardly assassinations.'

Meral Akşener's response to DEM Party on 'honorable political murders'! She named names and said, 'These are cowardly assassinations'...

İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener visited her party's provincial headquarters in Ordu.

Responding to journalists' questions after the visit, Akşener made statements regarding the current agenda.

Akşener stated that she came to the city to announce and officially introduce her Metropolitan Mayoral candidate Enver Yılmaz and some of the district candidates.

Stating that their candidate Enver Yılmaz served as a member of parliament for 3 terms, as a mayor for one term, and as a judge in previous years, Akşener expressed that Yılmaz knows legislation and law, as well as how to provide services at the local level.

Noting that she and Enver Yılmaz have common characteristics, Akşener said, "He is the founding provincial chair of the AK Party in Ordu, and I was a person who was among the founders at the very beginning of the AK Party. Later, I left because some things did not sit right with me."

Stating that Enver Yılmaz is now within the İYİ Party, Akşener continued her words as follows:

"Why is he joining? To serve the people of Ordu as mayor. Because the roads were closed and he applied to you. I was also there at the very beginning of the AK Party. Later, I left because some things did not fit. But our common point is this; from the moment we left, I started criticizing four years after the AK Party came to power. Because I saw their actions. We never made it personal. As for Mayor Enver, he is a person who has not said a single hurtful word to the party he left, to the members of the party, whether they are voters or administrators, to this day. I believe that those who want service for Ordu and those who want peace in Ordu will choose Enver Yılmaz, who is focused on service."

"WE COMMITTED ACTS AGAINST EACH OTHER BUT..."

When asked by a journalist to recall her previous assessment regarding the Sinan Ateş and Hrant Dink murders, Akşener said the following:

"They are deliberately distorting this statement of mine. I don't mind. But I have a duty to hold a mirror up to people, institutions, and groups. What I said there was, 'First of all, in our youth, I wish it hadn't happened, but before 1980, in the 1970s, young people faced each other as leftists and nationalists. Yes, we committed some acts against each other, but it was so open and clear, and therefore honorable, that families were not afraid,' I said. Why did I say that? Because there was no trickery there. The act is wrong, of course. But families were not afraid. Today, the fact that those who murdered Sinan Ateş have not been found, that Sinan Ateş's child, his daughter, is so afraid, and that his mother is afraid that she will also be murdered, brings about something else. That is what I was trying to explain."

RESPONSE TO DEM PARTY ON 'HONORABLE POLITICAL MURDERS'

When asked about the statement by DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan that "İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener should be prosecuted for her 'honorable political murders' remarks," Akşener said:

"Those who cannot call the PKK a terrorist organization, those who come to Parliament every time and say 'Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan' and applaud among themselves, will of course distort this. In the end, those who want freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, those who want freedom for a baby killer, are demanding imprisonment for Meral Akşener. Welcome, Mustafa Kemal Pasha. I declare it from here. I wish an investigation were opened on this matter so we could all see how things really are. All of these people are cowards. If this is considered an insult, let them take it to court immediately. Let me give them some advice. One can proceed from here. Those who murdered baby Naz are cowards, those who murdered Fethi Sekin are cowards. Those who murdered Eren Bülbül are cowards. Those who murdered Yasin Börü are cowards. At the same time, those who murdered Sinan Ateş are also cowards. These are cowardly assassinations. Therefore, it is certainly a good thing for our nation that these people are revealing the evil within them."
