MHP leader Bahçeli speaks at the Great Turkish Youth Congress

Speaking at the Great Turkish Youth Congress, organized by the Ülkü Ocakları Education and Culture Foundation under the theme "The Turkish Century in the Light of Independence," Devlet Bahçeli delivered messages regarding May 19.

Taking the podium at the program held at the Ankara Sports Hall, Bahçeli expressed his satisfaction with the atmosphere in the hall.

"I FEEL GREAT PRIDE IN THIS MAGNIFICENT SCENE"

Beginning his speech by emphasizing the enthusiasm in the hall, Bahçeli stated the following:

"I feel great pride in this magnificent scene I see before me, in the enthusiasm, excitement, and love for the ideal that surrounds this hall from end to end. Seeing the Turkish youth here on this meaningful day is an indescribable honor for me."

Drawing attention to the importance of May 19, 1919, in terms of Turkish history, Bahçeli said, "Today, we are all realizing together how the sun of freedom that rose on the horizon of Samsun on May 19, 1919, shines in the eyes of the Turkish youth 107 years later."

"MAY 19 IS A BLESSED BEGINNING"

In the continuation of his speech, Devlet Bahçeli emphasized the place of May 19 in the struggle for independence.

Bahçeli stated, "We are declaring from here, accompanied by this tremendous picture, how the nationalist movement that shaped the Republic of Turkey remains standing tall. No matter how much we boast about this youth, it is not enough. May 19 is a blessed beginning."

"THE HISTORY OF THE TURKISH NATION WAS REWRITTEN FROM SCRATCH IN SAMSUN"

Making evaluations regarding the National Struggle period, Bahçeli made the following statement:

"The homeland soil was being trampled by the boots of invaders. The shadow of the invaders had fallen upon the homeland soil. The step taken in Samsun is the greatest answer. The history of the Turkish nation was rewritten from scratch in Samsun."

Bahçeli also said, "May 19 is the rewriting of a future that was intended to be abandoned to captivity, by the hand of the Turks."

MESSAGE OF 'JOURNEY TOWARD THE FUTURE' TO THE YOUTH

Addressing the youth in the final part of his speech, Bahçeli stated that the spirit of May 19 continues.

Bahçeli said, "May 19 is the name of the journey toward the future that began 107 years ago with that first step taken by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha in Samsun and will last forever. The duty that falls upon you today is to be soldiers in the front ranks of this journey," he stated.
