In a statement made via his account on the social media platform X, Feti Yıldız recalled the methods for determining presidential candidates according to the Presidential Election Law and used the following expressions:
"According to the Presidential Election Law, a presidential candidate can be nominated by political party groups, political parties that have received at least 5% of the valid votes in the most recent parliamentary elections, or with the signatures of at least 100,000 voters.
A primary election is held under the supervision of a judge on a day announced by the Supreme Election Council within the election calendar. What is done outside of this date is not a primary election; it might perhaps be a straw poll."

Arguing that the primary election CHP will hold on March 23 cannot be taken seriously from a legal standpoint, Yıldız concluded his remarks by saying, "Only the parliamentary group can determine the CHP's presidential candidate. The rest is empty talk."
