MHP reacts to courtroom slogans! 'In the past, a sense of shame prevailed'
MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız criticized the slogans and chants during the trial of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Yıldız stated that in the past, politicians were more embarrassed when appearing in court.
The second hearing of the case against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from office following his arrest as part of an investigation into the municipality, was held today due to remarks he made regarding Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel also attended the hearing in Silivri for the case, in which İmamoğlu faces up to 7 years and 4 months in prison and a political ban.

The second hearing of the case, the previous session of which was held in a small courtroom, was moved to the largest hall on the campus due to high attendance. IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was brought to the courtroom at 10:05, was greeted with applause by those in attendance. Supporters of İmamoğlu chanted slogans such as “Turkey is proud of you”, “Everything will be very beautiful”, and “There is no salvation alone, either all together or none of us.”
“Yüz kızartıcı suçlar” terim olarak son yıllarda sık kullanılmıyor .

Ceza Kanunumuzda da suç kategorisi olarak bulunmuyor.
Ama,
Suç olmaktan çıkmış değil.
Anayasa ve Özel Kanunlarda Yüz Kızartıcı Suçlar tanımlaması mevcut.
Mesela;
Görevi kötüye kullanma,
Resmi evrakta sahtecilik…
There was a reaction from the MHP regarding the events in the courtroom.
MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız, making a statement on his social media account, stated without naming names that IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was being tried for "disgraceful crimes" and noted the following:
“The term 'disgraceful crimes' has not been used frequently in recent years. It does not exist as a crime category in our Penal Code either. However, it has not ceased to be a crime. The definition of 'disgraceful crimes' exists in the Constitution and special laws.
For example; crimes such as abuse of office, forgery of official documents, bribery, bid-rigging, corruption in the performance of duties, extortion, embezzlement, fraud, and fraudulent bankruptcy are disgraceful crimes.
Politicians accused of such crimes used to look down with a bit of shyness and a great deal of shame when they appeared before a judge or the public. People would feel sorry for the situation they had fallen into and their bewildered demeanor. It was seen that shame was also a blessing. Now, mashallah..! With slogans, ululations, and applause...”
