Midnight hail of bullets in Bodrum: MYP Deputy Chairman targeted in armed attack

An armed attack was carried out at midnight on the home of Milli Yol Party Deputy Chairman Cengizhan Sancar in the Kumbahçe neighborhood of Bodrum, Muğla. It was reported that the incident occurred around 02:30. Sancar was met with a hail of bullets by an unidentified person as he stepped out into his garden.

It was learned that Sancar, who panicked upon hearing the gunshots, managed to escape the attack by crawling. Numerous police teams were dispatched to the scene.

"BULLETS RAINED DOWN ON ME, I CRAWLED TO SAFETY"

Cengizhan Sancar, who escaped the attack by seconds, described the terrifying moments he experienced. Stating that he had been spraying his house with pesticide, Sancar said he went out into the garden to ventilate the area after the smell intensified during the night.

Sancar said, "At that moment, gunshots began to ring out. Bullets rained down on me; I estimate they fired 10 rounds. I threw myself to the ground and crawled into the house. I locked the doors and windows and immediately called the police."

Speaking about the motive behind the incident, Sancar stated, "I have no hostility toward anyone. I don't know if it stems from the articles I have written or the ongoing inheritance lawsuits. But there is no situation that would warrant this. I have no debts to anyone, and no one owes me anything. I have been living in Bodrum for 40 years. I have never seen the city in such a bad state. I am alive by sheer luck."
