Minor partner of the People's Alliance gives a rate for the minimum wage: 'Our stance is uncompromising'

BBP leader Mustafa Destici made statements regarding the agenda at his party's weekly press conference held at the headquarters building.

"IT IS AN INJUSTICE TO THE WORKER'S LABOR"

BBP leader Destici said the following regarding the minimum wage:

"First of all, in our country where inflation is at 60-70 percent, returning to determining the minimum wage once a year is an injustice to the workers, to the worker's labor, and to their sweat. It is not right to condemn them to a salary determined in January for 1 year.

"IT MUST BE REDETERMINED IN JULY"

Even if the inflation estimate is 50 percent, by the time we reach June, the minimum wage earner's salary will have decreased by 25 percent. Therefore, the minimum wage must absolutely be redetermined in July. Until when? Until the minimum wage falls to single digits. That is, until it falls below 10 percent. Our stance on this issue is uncompromising. We express our views clearly not only here but also in the presence of the necessary authorities when we meet with them. Our determination on this matter is clear.

CALL FOR AT LEAST 55 PERCENT

The minimum wage should definitely not be below the inflation figure. Let's say the inflation for the last 6 months comes out to 45 percent. First of all, this 45 percent must be given. On top of this, a welfare share must be provided. The rate of this should, of course, be evaluated within the budget possibilities, but in our opinion, the welfare share should not be below 10 percent. If inflation is 45 percent, a 10 percent welfare share should also be given; an increase below 55 percent should not be announced. I sincerely believe that the determination of the minimum wage twice a year will continue and that a fair wage will emerge. We think the same way for civil servant and retiree salaries. The inflation rate and welfare share should be added. A separate improvement should also be made regarding our retirees who receive a pension of 7,500 TL"
