Money flowed to AKP municipalities in local elections: 45 million liras to each

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu had claimed that while the debate over municipalities' social security debts was ongoing, the Presidency had transferred 45 million liras to AKP-run district municipalities, including Üsküdar, Çekmeköy, and Gaziosmanpaşa, during the March 31 local elections.

According to a report by Sema Kızılarslan from Karar Newspaper; the 45 million lira 'donation' made to the AKP has been confirmed with documents. It was observed that the word 'donation' was written in the description section of the transfers made through state banks.

In response, Hilmi Türkmen, who served as the mayor of Üsküdar for two consecutive terms, stated regarding the matter: "There is no such thing. There was such a grant aid in the previous election period, but it did not happen this term. They are lying, and people believe it. At least you called; no one even calls to ask if it is true or false. I did not see the financial aid they mentioned."

NONE FOR THE MHP MUNICIPALITY

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Gökhan Günaydın also said the following:

"There are 39 district municipalities in Istanbul. We can look at the distribution before the local elections as follows: 14 are CHP-run, one is MHP-run, and 24 are AKP-run. These 45 million liras each were sent only to AKP-run municipalities. There is none for CHP-run municipalities anyway. However, the interesting part is that there is none for Silivri, the only MHP-run municipality either."
