Much-discussed İmamoğlu claim regarding Lütfü Savaş!

The Republican People's Party (CHP) continues to face repercussions over its decision to re-nominate incumbent mayor Lütfü Savaş in Hatay for the March 31, 2024, local elections.

Savaş, who was protested on the anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes, had his candidacy re-evaluated within the party, and CHP leader Özgür Özel announced that they would continue with Savaş.

Cumhuriyet columnist Barış Pehlivan shared some backstage information from within the CHP in his column today.

Pehlivan wrote that the CHP's controversial Hatay Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate, Lütfü Savaş, believes that Ekrem İmamoğlu is one of the people who does not want him to sit in the mayoral seat again.

The relevant section of Pehlivan's article is as follows:

“Lütfü Savaş believes he is one of the rare people who can receive votes from both the right and the left. For this reason, he still thinks he could become president. He claims that İmamoğlu is trying to push him out of politics because he does not want to see him as a rival in presidential elections.”
