Alliance call from Muharrem İnce: I invite you to come together
Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce responded to MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli. İnce issued a call for a political alliance.
Memleket Party leader Muharrem İnce, in a statement made via social media, responded to MHP leader Bahçeli, who said at his party's group meeting yesterday: "If the isolation of the terrorist leader is lifted, let him come and speak at the DEM Party group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). Let him declare that terrorism has completely ended and the organization has been disbanded. If he shows this resolve and determination, let the path be wide open for legal regulations regarding the use of the right to hope and for him to benefit from it. Let the address extend from Imralı to DEM, not Kandil or Edirne, and let this grave and historical terror problem be completely removed from the country's agenda. I challenge you, we are ready for this."
Messages of support for Bahçeli's statements had come from the DEM Party front.
Following these hot developments, Muharrem İnce used the following expressions in his written statement:
Lately, not a day goes by without a development that shocks us all. Between femicides and infant murders, our agenda has been thrown into a completely different place with the statement made by Mr. Bahçeli yesterday. Bahçeli asked for the release from prison of the terrorist leader Öcalan, one of the greatest scourges to befall this nation—whom he complained in the squares was not being hanged—and for him to come to Parliament and declare that terrorism has ended. Immediately after Bahçeli's statement, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel raised the stakes by talking about giving a state to the Kurds, and later the President also announced his support for these statements. In fact, the statements made for a while now were pointing to something being cooked up. We do not know what bargains and betrayals are taking place behind closed doors. It is true that the state engages in closed-door meetings when the high interests of the state require it, but there is a procedure and protocol for this in the event of the state's survival. You must ask on behalf of the nation and present the justifications for this. At the very least, you should hold a closed session in Parliament and explain it to the representatives of the nation. However, regardless of the justification, it is unacceptable to invite the terrorist leader to announce in Parliament that he will end terrorism, which makes this nation and state appear in a state of helplessness. What kind of step back, what kind of somersault is this? How will you explain this to the children who lost their fathers to PKK terrorism, to the mothers and fathers who lost their children!
CALL FOR ALLIANCE
In the continuation of the statement, Muharrem İnce, who also issued a call for an alliance, recalled Atatürk's words: "There are periods in the history of nations when, in order to reach certain goals, it is necessary to gather all material and spiritual forces and direct them in the same direction," and invited all nationalist and republican forces in Turkey to come together.
Stating that it is possible to build a government that is local, national, intelligent, civilized, strong, and honest, which Turkey needs, İnce said, "One can be both national and intelligent. One can be both local and civilized. One can be both strong and honest."
İnce continued his words as follows:
He emphasized that what is necessary for this unity to be achieved is for political actors to stay away from small calculations and marginal demands and come together on common minimums. İnce said, "I am not talking about gathering under a party sign, but about acting together. I am not talking about a hierarchical organization, but about standing side by side."
Touching on the importance of honorable people uniting to restore democracy, he said, "The struggle to restore democracy in Turkey requires that they themselves first insist on democracy, that those who claim to restore the rule of law must first believe in the law themselves, and that those who claim to be angry at corruption must establish mechanisms within themselves to prevent it."
