Muharrem İnce lashes out at CHP: 'I told them to cast Ali Babacan and Davutoğlu aside'

While visiting the Tarsus district of Mersin, Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce made a statement to journalists alongside Tarsus Mayor Haluk Bozdoğan.

In his statement, İnce criticized the CHP, saying, "Look closely at who lost. Pollsters were appearing on television, saying '62.3 percent for Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu'—did they say it? They did. 'Muharrem İnce, withdraw, withdraw.' 'The last election of the Republic.' 'We are sinking, we are finished, withdraw Muharrem İnce.' The pollsters lied to the nation. Journalists appeared on television and lied while looking the nation straight in the eye. Artists insulted us. The salon politicians lost. We said, 'Don't do this, you can't have 7 vice presidents.' Is it possible to have 7 vice presidents? They were lined up like beads, like prayer beads, and I said, 'This won't work, don't do it.' I said, 'Look, I don't want anything, just cast Ali Babacan and Davutoğlu aside.' I said, 'I don't want anything. I will come and stand by your side. I don't even want a ministry. Just let Meral Hanım be the vice president, let there be one vice president.'"

Pointing out that his own statements are on the record, İnce said, "I said this on television. I said it on Sözcü TV. I said, 'Look, Davutoğlu and Babacan, they have no votes.' They don't have any votes. I said, 'The votes are with us, we have them.' I said, 'I will come and stand by your side,' I promised. I don't want a vice presidency. I don't want a ministry. I don't want anything. 'The Six-Party Table, the Six-Party Table.' 7 vice presidents. If you say seven vice presidents, the nation won't take you seriously. 'This is the last election, always this last election,' you will get votes from the nation by scaring them. There is no such world. 'This is the last election, otherwise the Republic will collapse. Continuing his speech, İnce said, "The pot (economy) topples the government, that is true. But security topples the pot. If you maintain such a spineless relationship with FETÖ and the PKK, this nation will not vote for you even if the dollar hits 100 lira. If you cannot distance yourself from FETÖ, if you cannot distance yourself from the PKK, even if the dollar hits 100 lira, the nation will not vote for you."

Explaining that social media trolls also lost, İnce concluded his remarks by saying, "There were barons, they were always telling the same lie. I tried to explain. 'There is no such thing as 60 percent or anything like that. Don't do it. Stay away from FETÖ. This nation is afraid of terrorism.' Do you know why? Look. For a thousand years, this land has seen the Mongols, the Byzantines, the Greeks, the British, the French, the Italians, and the Russians.
