Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) investigation, Beylikdüzü Mayor, who was arrested as part of the Murat Çalık ,Çalık experienced serious healthproblems during his 3.5-monthperiod in prison. Having previously beaten cancer twice, Çalıklost 18 kilograms during thistime.

Hefellill inrecent daysrushed to the hospital after Çalık underwent an angiography. However, after the procedures were completed, whilehis health condition was still at a critical level, he was removed from thecoronary intensive care unit andhandcuffed way back to Buca Prisonwas sent.

Speaking to SÖZCÜ newspaper,his doctors stated that Murat Çalık's health condition is extremely risky and that the possibility of the cancer recurring is highand stated that prison conditions could increase this risk.

FORENSIC MEDICAL REPORT PENDING

WhetherÇalık will be released due to his health condition depends on the report to be issued by the Council of Forensic Medicine. However, his lawyers reminded that the prosecutor's office could also make a direct decision for release before the forensic report arrives.

LAWYER KOÇHAN: "PRISONCONDITIONS IN THIS PROCESSWILL NOT WITHSTAND"

Murat Çalık's lawyer Melih Koçhan emphasized that it is not possible for his client to undergo a healthy treatment process under prison conditions, and made the following statement regarding the situation, noting that the current environment is not suitable for his recovery.He stressed that the medical risks remain significant.made the statement:

“Mr. Mehmet Murat Çalık, despite the examinations and interventions performed at the hospital where he was taken following his health issues, wasdespite todaybeing discharged fromcoronary intensive care andtransferred back to prison. His health condition, which carries a vital risk, continues. The hearing regarding his detention has concluded, buta decision has not yet beenreached. We are awaiting the verdict.”
