Murat Kurum misquotes proverb, Tanju Özcan mocks him: Come be my rival
CHP Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan addressed People's Alliance IMM candidate Murat Kurum, who misquoted the Turkish proverb 'The market in Bor has passed, ride your donkey to Niğde'.
Murat Kurum, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) mayoral candidate for the People's Alliance, formed by the AKP and MHP, continues his local election campaign.
During a speech at an event, Kurum's misquotation of the proverb "The market in Bor has passed, ride your donkey to Niğde" as "The market in Bolu has passed" became a trending topic on social media.
A response to Murat Kurum came from CHP Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan.
Sharing the video of Kurum on his social media account, Özcan used the following expressions:
"Regarding 'The market in Bolu has passed.' Don't be sad, Mr. Murat Kurum, we hold it regularly every Monday.
It is still not too late for anything; you had better forget about Istanbul and come be my rival in Bolu."
