Murat Kurum's 'Kadıköy' reaction to Ekrem İmamoğlu
Murat Kurum, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate for the People's Alliance formed by the AKP and MHP, has targeted the incumbent mayor, Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Murat Kurum, the People's Alliance candidate for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor, met with NGO representatives in Kadıköy as part of his local election campaign.
Making statements regarding the upcoming local elections, Kurum stated that they have prepared the projects for the Söğütlüçeşme-Gayrettepe-İncirli metro line in full detail, adding: "I hope that as of the morning of April 1, we will initiate the process for this project, where my fellow citizens who board the metro at Söğütlüçeşme will first pass under the Bosphorus and then travel uninterruptedly all the way to Beylikdüzü."
ANNOUNCED HIS PROMISES
Addressing the traffic problem, Kurum explained that while strengthening public transportation in Istanbul, they would also open alternative routes and build two major tunnel projects for the two sides of the city.
Noting that they would move traffic in central Istanbul underground with these tunnels, which will reach a total of 122 kilometers, Kurum said: "We will immediately and rapidly start our 10-kilometer tunnels between Yeni Sahra and Bostancı, and our fellow citizens will reach the Bostancı coast from Yeni Sahra without interruption."
Stating that traffic on the D-100 highway on the route from Kadıköy to Tuzla has become a torment in the morning, afternoon, and evening, Kurum expressed that they would reduce congestion and provide relief to the residents of Kadıköy with the side road arrangements they will make there.
TARGETED İMAMOĞLU AND THE CHP
Targeting the current IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Kurum said the following:
"The current administration continues to waste our people's time by still running away from Istanbul's real agenda. You haven't even been able to open a single sports field in Kadıköy. You haven't been able to establish an animal care center. You haven't created green spaces, you haven't managed the traffic, you haven't even renovated a single nursery. Still, 'The President said this,' 'The government did that.' My friend, you were a candidate for Vice President; you got your answer on May 28. You are chasing all kinds of agendas outside of Istanbul. You saw the nation's seal on May 28. Leave these fake agendas, masked bargains, and so-called populism behind. Your mind and thoughts are always outside of Istanbul now."
We say, return to Istanbul now, return to the people of Istanbul. Return to Istanbul and look in the mirror and face yourself. Question yourself, 'What have I done for this nation, for Istanbul in 5 years?' You will see that none of these promises, such as 'I will weave it with metro networks, I will equip it with green spaces,' have been realized. I'm sorry, you couldn't manage it, you are not managing it. You won't have such an opportunity after March 31 anyway. As they say, 'The market in Bor has passed,' that market has passed; the people of Istanbul are aware of what is what. We say these things, but it goes in one ear and out the other. Istanbul's resources and energy continue to be wasted."
KADIKÖY REACTION TO İMAMOĞLU
Murat Kurum claimed that the current CHP-led IMM administration and the district municipality have abandoned Kadıköy to its fate and have not kept their promises, continuing his words as follows:
"Today, there isn't even a single indoor sports hall built in our Kadıköy. The sports hall, which began construction in Acıbadem 7 years ago, is now completely idle and left to rot. Can you imagine? We have 50 amateur sports clubs in Kadıköy. There is one football field, not a single sports complex. The CHP district municipality laid a symbolic foundation years ago, but the construction is still ongoing and cannot be finished. Okay, you don't provide services to the districts managed by the AK Party, we understood that. At least put your hand on your conscience for Kadıköy, which has given you the administration for years, and change this scene that does not suit our Kadıköy as soon as possible."
Kurum said: "Why were the promises you made to the animal lovers of Kadıköy not kept? Why haven't you built the animal care homes and treatment centers until today? Where are the 21 nurseries you promised our mothers? Where are the green spaces you promised? Believe me, these are so-called environmentalists. The people of Kadıköy saw that you even cut down our beautiful trees in Kalamış Park by saying, 'We will make arrangements.'"
