Müsavat Dervişoğlu speaks from Samsun! 'This holiday is a call to struggle'

The first stop of İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu during his visit to Samsun was the Tobacco Pier, the place where Atatürk first set foot in Samsun. He took a commemorative photo with party officials there and then addressed the crowd.

Expressing that they gathered on the anniversary of the day the Turkish nation was reborn, on the 106th anniversary of the rebellion against captivity, Dervişoğlu said the following:

"Just as April 23 is the ideal of national sovereignty dedicated to children, May 19 is the consciousness of national liberation left to the youth, it is the trust of that consciousness. For this reason, I must say in the shortest way possible that the time has come to turn that trust into action. That consciousness must meet with ideas, words, and actions. That consciousness must dominate minds, hearts, and souls. May 19 is the eve of liberation. We are on the eve of that holiday. So what are we waiting for here? Are we waiting for the Bandırma Ferry? Are we waiting for Mustafa Kemal? Are we waiting for a miracle? No. The Bandırma is now every inch of the homeland soil we step on. Every step we take for the homeland will go down in history as that step Mustafa Kemal took to Samsun. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is the inspiration and the truth within us all. We are not waiting for a miracle, and we will not wait for a miracle. Because this is Mustafa Kemal's miracle. What he did is the miracle. What we will do is the miracle. A miracle is a struggle crowned with faith and consciousness. Because the republic means not needing a miracle. That miracle is you yourselves, with your flesh, bones, determination, and will to struggle. You are the ones who will defeat the pessimism in one half of your heart with the hope in the other. You are the ones who will defeat the sorrow in one side of your mind with the courage in the other. We are the miracle, we are all of it. A new Turkish miracle must be born, and it will be born. Perhaps tomorrow, perhaps even sooner than tomorrow.

"OUR MAY 19 IS NOT A COMMEMORATION CEREMONY, BUT A CALL TO STRUGGLE"

On this holiday, we are undoubtedly proud as always, and we commemorate May 19, 1919; however, the way to deal with this network of organized evil that casts a shadow over our happiness and hope is not just to commemorate days full of honor, and it is certainly not to postpone our main duty with temporary consolation. Today, we are obliged to build our own May 19. We have to take one more step. Here in Samsun, across from the Tobacco Pier, I speak with that determination, that resolve, and that will. I say to each and every one of you, young, old, woman, man; our May 19 is not a commemoration ceremony, but a call to struggle. I came to Samsun today to reiterate that call to struggle.

"I AM HERE TO REVIVE AND UPLIFT THE CONSCIOUSNESS OF 1919"

A journalist wrote, 'It would be fitting for Müsavat Dervişoğlu to take a Kalashnikov and go to the mountains.' I replied to him, 'Not yet, I am going to Samsun on Sunday.' I am here with that will. I am here with that determination. I am here to revive and uplift the consciousness of 1919. You all know that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who came to Samsun on the 19th day of May 1919, was actually the representative of a determination, a resolve, and an effort. That spirit is here today, in this square. We are filled with the pride and happiness of reliving that historic day that reminds us of what we are and who we are. In 1919, the First World War had ended, and at the end of that war, the victors took up their pens and reshaped the world. They redrew the borders of countries, and everyone complied with those borders. Within the framework of the Treaty of Sèvres, they tore Turkey into pieces as they desired. On May 15, the Greeks occupied İzmir, and Istanbul was already under occupation. The Italians were in the Mediterranean, the French were in the Southeastern Anatolia Region, and the Armenians and Armenia in the East were waiting with mouths watering, burning with the desire to establish a state. They were all displaying an appetite to devour a divided Turkey. One person emerges and says, 'Whatever the results of the war may be, I am rebelling against the mortgage you have placed on us. I do not accept the borders you have drawn. I am setting out from Samsun and I am showing the determination to carry that will to every part of Anatolia.' That will is defined as the 'first step' in Samsun. It is the first step in Samsun, it became 'national will' in Erzurum, 'national unity' in Sivas, 'national Parliament' in Ankara, 'defense of law' in Sakarya, 'Great Offensive' in Afyon, 'Great Victory' in İzmir, 'title deed' in Lausanne, and then it turned into the 'Republic' across the homeland.

"NO POWER CAN STAND BEFORE THE TURKISH NATION"

That will is standing tall today, but the evil forces that were at work that day are not idle either. The circles that continue their eternal and everlasting enmity toward the Turks and the Republic are at work today as well, and they are accomplices of those who think they are governing Turkey. We will break this game again. Just as we rejected annexation yesterday, just as we said defense of law yesterday, just as we lit the torch of liberation again with the spirit of the National Forces (Kuvayımilliye) yesterday, we will continue our journey with the same determination today. Everyone might think they can do whatever they want. Everyone might be under the impression that there will be a response to the trap they have set for Turkey. But everyone should know well that the Turkish nation is a nation capable of overcoming the obstacles placed before it and breaking the traps set for it. When it acts with the quality of being a nation, no power can stand before the Turkish nation.

"WE WILL NOT DE-TURKIFY TURKEY"

Today, those who want to divide Turkey are at work. But the task of rebuilding a national will that will act as a barrier against those who want to divide this nation has been placed on our necks, it is a great responsibility on our shoulders. We will fulfill the requirements of that responsibility. The 106th anniversary of May 19 that we are observing today will be celebrated as a holiday by our youth tomorrow. I want to address our youth; in fact, I am not talking to them, I am not reminding them of their duties. I know very well that they are already aware of their duties. I know that they will not shy away from the requirements of the historical responsibilities that fall upon the children of Turkish independence. I believe that the War of Independence, which began with this first step taken exactly 106 years ago on May 19, 1919, will be carried out properly by this nation today if necessary. Let no one have empty dreams. We will not let the Turkish homeland be divided. We will not let the Republic of Turkey be destroyed. We will not de-Turkify Turkey.

"DEVLET BAHÇELİ HAS NO RIGHT OR AUTHORITY TO REPRESENT TURKISH NATIONALISM"

They are initiating a series of processes. They are even trying to take advantage of some political figures and instruments to initiate those processes. During the resolution process carried out in 2013, the head of the terrorists called Abdullah Öcalan had said, 'For us to obtain our democratic rights and pave the way for peace in Turkey, the nationalists must allow it.' I am telling historical facts. I am speaking to confront those who make deals with the century with history. That is why I am here. It seems that Turkish nationalists needed to be utilized for Western imperialism to not give up on its ambitions that are an extension of Sèvres and to put them into practice again. For this, a nationalist leader emerged and invited Abdullah Öcalan to the podium of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. I told him, 'That head of the terrorists cannot enter the Grand National Assembly of Turkey without stepping over our corpses.' Devlet Bahçeli is not the only person to speak in the name of Turkish nationalism in this country. Devlet Bahçeli has no right or authority to represent Turkish nationalism. Turkish nationalism is not without an owner. Turkish nationalism is not an ordinary view or thought. Turkish nationalism is the founding philosophy of the Republic of Turkey state. I am saying from here that we will never allow Turkish nationalism, which is the backbone of the Republic of Turkey state, to be turned into an apparatus to be used with the guidance of a man who has been in prison for 25 years and is sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment. Everyone has seen me in every state, but thank God, no one has seen me bow down until now.

"WE ARE AGAINST THE LEGITIMIZATION OF TERRORISTS BY SAYING A TURKEY WITHOUT TERROR"

Now they are managing a new process. You have as much of an idea about this subject as I do. Because these negotiations are being held behind closed doors. These negotiations are being hidden from the nation. Because we were curious about what was going on, we asked those who think they are governing Turkey, 'What is happening? What is being experienced? Tell us about this,' we said. They told us, 'The delegation going to İmralı will inform you.' I replied, 'People who renew their strategy with the guidance of Abdullah Öcalan and have no duty other than being a messenger cannot even enter the door of the İYİ Party.' But if there is anyone who wants to give us information, they can come to give information or to be held accountable. Who should come to us? In such a resolution process, the state should come. Those who think they govern the state should come and inform us, that is, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan should come. If Recep Tayyip Erdoğan cannot deign to come, the Minister of Foreign Affairs should come. If the Minister of Foreign Affairs does not come, the Minister of Interior should come. If he does not come, the Minister of Justice and the Head of the National Intelligence Organization should come to inform us. They are not doing any of this. All they are doing is creating a traffic of exchange of views with İmralı. They want to put a peace project into practice under the guidance of the terrorist of İmralı. We did not enter a war to make peace. We did not enter a war and lose it to make concessions. We were not defeated to kneel before an organization. I wonder if those who govern this state are aware of what they are governing? I wonder if they are aware of what kind of trouble and humiliation they have left this nation to face? Although, it is not possible to expect consciousness from these unconscious people. They were friends in the past with those they called terrorists yesterday. Then they became enemies with them today. It cannot be claimed by anyone that they will not call those they are friends with today terrorists tomorrow. Here I am saying it, this process is a project of Western imperialism, primarily the USA and Israel, to put the provisions of Sèvres back into practice. It was put into practice as the Greater Middle East Project, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has been captivated by the magic of its co-presidency. I am addressing Recep Tayyip Erdoğan from here; look, nothing will come of these steps you have taken. They turn to us and say, 'Are you against a Turkey without terror?'. Who would be against a Turkey without terror?"
