Nallıhan Mayor responds to claims he will join the AKP: Emphasis on Mansur Yavaş
In a statement made via social media, Ertunç Güngör emphasized that the rumors regarding his joining the AKP are completely baseless and stated, "I will continue to stand by Mansur Yavaş."
Ahead of the AKP Provincial Advisory Council meeting to be held in Ankara, claims emerged that some mayors would change parties. Nallıhan Mayor Ertunç Güngör, whose name was among those mentioned, issued a statement through his social media account denying these allegations.
The following statements were included in Güngör's post:
" The claims made about me in some press outlets and social media channels in recent days are completely untrue. My political stance is clear.
I will continue with determination to stand by Mr. Mansur Yavaş and support the understanding of municipalism and the political stance he has put forward.
No one should try to isolate Mr. Mansur Yavaş through me. I will neither be a part of such schemes nor remain silent about them.
Our priority is service, not polemics. We will continue to work with the awareness of our responsibility to Nallıhan, Ankara, and our citizens. "
Furthermore, during the period when Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan resigned from the CHP and joined the AKP, claims that Nevşehir Mayor Rasim Arı, Gölbaşı Mayor Yakup Odabaşı, Haymana Mayor Levent Koç, and Nallıhan Mayor Ertunç Güngör would also leave their parties had been on the agenda in recent days. However, with his statement, Güngör definitively denied these rumors.
In these days when activity in local politics continues, the political choices of mayors around Ankara are being closely watched. With this statement from Güngör, the message was sent that Mansur Yavaş's support in local administrations continues.
