Namık Tan denies Tom Barrack allegations

CHP Istanbul MP Namık Tan has reacted sharply to allegations that have recently surfaced in the public eye, claiming that he requested assistance from businessman Tom Barrack regarding a decision of absolute nullity. In his statement, Tan emphasized that he has never met with Barrack in any capacity and has never even been in the same room as him.

In a statement published on his social media account, Tan used the following expressions:

“Are you not ashamed at all to recklessly tell such a lie? I have never even been in the same room as Tom Barrack, let alone met with him. You may see no harm in lying to stay in the spotlight. However, you cannot involve others in this unethical behavior. On the day the nullity decision was issued, I was on my way back to Turkey due to an illness I suffered during the Council of Europe Political Committee meeting taking place in Paris. As soon as I returned to the country, I was urgently hospitalized on Friday, May 22, and underwent major surgery at Ankara Dünyagöz due to a retinal tear. Since that day, I have been under observation, first in the hospital and now at home. I strongly condemn you and demand an immediate retraction and apology for this lie through this medium. I also want you to know that I reserve all my legal rights.”

In his statement, Tan noted that at the time the absolute nullity decision was announced, he was at the Council of Europe Political Committee meeting in Paris, that he suddenly fell ill and returned to Turkey, and that he underwent retinal surgery in Ankara immediately afterward. He added that he has been in a treatment process due to health issues since that date.
