"I, Ali Nasuh Mahruki, am a candidate for the Beşiktaş mayoral nomination from the Republican People's Party for the March 31, 2024 Local Elections," Mahruki said in a post on his social media account, adding the following:
"My dear fellow citizens of Beşiktaş, I do not make promises I cannot keep, and I keep the promises I make.
I promise that during my term as Mayor of Beşiktaş, everyone will receive their due, no one will receive more than their due, and I will work with a management approach that is fair, egalitarian, free, open, transparent, and accountable, through governance and a culture of consultation and deliberation, and that I will assemble the best possible team for Beşiktaş.
I am impatient to serve our beautiful Beşiktaş, the apple of Istanbul's eye and the historic pearl of the Bosphorus, together with you.
My dear neighbors of Beşiktaş, I invite you to revive the Spirit of Beşiktaş, to take ownership of our Beşiktaş together, to solve all its problems together, and to take our Beşiktaş to the top."
