National Security Council meets at the Palace: What topics are on the table?
The National Security Council meeting, to be held today under the chairmanship of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will discuss important issues regarding regional peace efforts and Turkey's security.
The National Security Council (MGK) will meet today at the Palace under the chairmanship of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. At the top of the agenda for the June ordinary meeting is the new agreement reached between the US and Iran, which has raised hopes for lasting peace in the region.
It is stated that the critical meeting, which will begin at 15:30, will comprehensively address the steps to be taken in the region following the agreement to end the war, as well as the contributions Turkey can make to this peace process. Furthermore, the meeting is expected to evaluate current developments in the fight against terrorism and operations related to the second opening process, referred to as a “terrorism-free Turkey,” in light of intelligence data.
In addition to this, legal regulations prepared to ensure the fight against terrorism is conducted more effectively, and which are planned to be implemented in the near future, will also be on the agenda of the MGK members.
One of the important topics of the security summit is the latest situation in the Eastern Mediterranean. It is planned to focus on developments in the region and the strategies to be followed to protect Turkey's national interests.
