New assessment from AKP figure regarding the results of the March 31 elections

AKP Deputy Chairman and Head of Local Governments Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz held a press conference at the AKP Osmaniye Provincial Headquarters. The meeting was attended by AKP Osmaniye Deputy Seydi Gülsoy, Provincial Chairman Adnan Bayram, and party organization members.

"Our nation told us something at the ballot box on March 31, and we have started working on this," said Yusuf Ziya Yılmaz, adding, "Osmaniye was one of our alliance provinces where we entered in cooperation with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and one of the provinces where we did not nominate a candidate and instead supported the Nationalist Movement Party's candidate."

Successful results were achieved in the election. A result emerged in the March 31, 2024 elections, dear friends, and in this result, our nation told us something at the ballot box. It made an assessment regarding us. Every ballot box and every election result has a meaning expressed by the outcome that emerges from the ballot box.

There is a meaning loaded by the election results. There is a message it conveys to the politician, the beneficiaries of politics, the candidates, or the political parties that are the determinants of politics. In terms of this message, our institutions, our authorized boards—both our headquarters authorized boards and our provincial organizations—are evaluating what our nation wants from us based on these ballot box results.

I cannot say that we achieved the result we expected across our country. We should have achieved better; we should have obtained better results. But we are currently in a process where we are analyzing and evaluating the meaning it carries in terms of its sociology, concluding it, and discussing the things we need to do in the upcoming period; we are in a process of consulting on what we need to do. In such situations, the meaning of what our nation has expressed is certainly important," he said.

"AUTHORIZED BOARDS EVALUATED IT IN MYK MEETINGS"

Stating that the AKP is the nation's party, Yılmaz said, "As the administrators of AK Party politics, starting with our President, our founding chairman—I want to say it with the expression of the President—we are a party founded by the nation. We are in the direction of the nation. We are a political movement that has made it the basic philosophy of our politics to act in the direction of our nation and to fulfill what our nation demands, whatever goals, direction, or actions the nation wants us to take, and whatever decisions it requires and expresses."

Here, too, our nation told us some things. Our authorized boards, which analyze and examine these things as political sociology—what comes first among these things, what is second, what is third, what is fourth—are preparing, doing, and have done what is necessary. As you all know very well, an MKYK meeting was held, and 2 MYK meetings were held after the election. In the MYK meetings, our party's authorized boards evaluated and examined these situations. In the upcoming period, a large weekend camp covering our deputies is likely planned within 15 days, towards the end of May. In the time following that, our consultation meeting with our mayors is planned.

In other words, I want to say this: I believe that by June 15, broad consultations covering our deputies, our provincial chairmen, and our party's elected mayors will be completed. The roadmap ahead will be determined all together. I came to Osmaniye today to congratulate our brothers and sisters who put in effort, great political exertion, and labor in the great struggle given during this March 31 election process.

I came to convey to you our determination in the process regarding the fastest possible execution of the upcoming period, the expressions of our party's authorized bodies, and to inform you that we will determine the building blocks of the upcoming process and our roadmap, and accelerate our direction in the direction demanded by our nation, with the motto 'No Stopping, Keep Going' in the fastest and most diligent way possible," he said.
