New development in the İmamoğlu case! File sent to the high criminal court

In the case filed against 12 people, including CHP's presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Ankara 26th Criminal Court of First Instance had issued a decision of "lack of jurisdiction" and ruled that the file be sent to the high criminal court. Rejecting the defense attorneys' objection that the case should be heard in the criminal court of first instance, the Ankara 26th Criminal Court of First Instance decided that there was no room for correction of the decision and sent the file to the duty Ankara 3rd High Criminal Court for evaluation.

The Ankara 3rd High Criminal Court will conduct an evaluation within the scope of the file, decide whether there is a crime requiring a heavy penalty, and determine in which court the defendants should be tried.

The indictment requests prison sentences of up to 3 years each for Ekrem İmamoğlu, Baki Aydöner, Cemil Tugay, Erkan Aydın, Hüseyin Yaşar, Mehmet Kılınçarslan, Metin Güzelkaya, Nihat Yeşiltaş, Özgen Nama, Özgür Çelik, Rıza Akpolat, and Serhat Can Eş on the grounds of "tampering with the vote" as stated in Article 112 of the Law on Political Parties.

CONVENTION ANNULMENT CASE ON JUNE 30

On the other hand, former Hatay Mayor Lütfü Savaş had filed a lawsuit in civil courts for the annulment of the CHP's convention held on November 4-5, 2023.

The annulment requests were consolidated in the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance, and the case will be heard on June 30.
